Spiritual dance is the next level of praise and worship. It is an expression of our love and spiritual joy physically. We can name it “Praise & Worship in Dance.” It is the soul and the body praising God together. It is a fresh way to glorify God’s name among God’s people and beyond. Many people are asking questions whether dancing is appropriate for worship or not. Opinion differ base on various belief and traditional backgrounds. Let us see what the word of God has to say and decide weather we should or should not.
“Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.” (Psalm 149:3). “Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!” (Psalm 150:4). “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.” (Psalm 30:11). When the Ark of the Lord was brought back to the City of David, King David danced with joy with all his might. “Then David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod” (2 Samuel 6:14).
Dance is an art which is very important part of every nationality and ethnic groups have valued for their culture. Our church is comprised with many ethnic groups of people with rich traditional dances and arts. So, “Dance Ministry” has been one of the most attractive tools for our church ministries. Performing arts committee has collected various beautiful costumes and styles of dances to perform throughout the year whenever we need to express our spiritual joy for the love of God.
With love,
